New Zealand Trading with Australian Members
Australia and New Zealand members cannot currently transact with each other directly. However, a Bartercard Reciprocal Trade Agreement has been established to facilitate transactions between the two countries.
For New Zealand members wishing to travel to Australia and utilise spending their T$ an International Travel Account (ITA) is required. The ITA application needs to be completed and emailed to the International Trading Team (inter.trading@bartercard.com)
Please ensure form is completed and sent at least 10 working days prior to travel.
The New Zealand member must have completed all AML requirements for their New Zealand Bartercard Account in order to transfer funds to the Australian ITA.
An Australian ITA will be opened only after all AML requirements have been fulfilled.
Funds can then be processed into the account using the Bartercard Reciprocal Trade Accounts. The exchange rate will be calculated on the day the transaction is processed.
• Transaction fees are charged to the New Zealand Parent Account on payment to the Bartercard Reciprocal Trading Account.
• No fees will be charged on funds into the member’s Australian ITA, and no fees will be charged on spending from the Australian ITA Account.
Once the account has been opened, the New Zealand member will receive an email with their Australian account information and instructions on how to access the Australian online tools.
At the completion of travel, the ITA Account Holder needs to request that any remaining funds be credited back to their New Zealand Parent Account in writing by email. These funds will be reversed to the New Zealand Parent Account using the Bartercard Reciprocal Trade Accounts.
Transaction fees associated with the remaining trade balance will be credited back to the New Zealand Parent Account at
this time.
The exchange rate will be calculated on the day the transaction is processed.
